Summary: Dr. Takayuki gets to show Ed the CAT scans. Ren is also a cat. Oh, puns.
Dr. Takayuki: *knocks gently on the door with his knuckles, opening it a moment later* Mister Elric...?
T!Ed: *sitting up in bed and scritching Ren behind the ears, looking hazily over at the door* Yeah..?
C!Envy: *purring lazily, mostly conscious and curled contentedly on Ed's lap*
Dr. Takayuki: *eye twitches when he sees the cat* I've brought Mr. Elric's scans, and I think you ought to take a look at them. *comes fully into the room and shuts the door with a soft click, a folder of printouts in one hand*
T!Ed: *narrows his eyes at the doctor, putting the other arm around cat!Ren protectively* ...Why didn't you tell me about any of this sooner? I promised I would be there with him.
C!Envy: *licks Ed's fingers fastidiously, opening an eye*
Dr. Takayuki: *shakes his head softly, smiling* You were unconscious at the time, and it is impossible for anyone to actually be in the room when the scans are being done.
Dr. Takayuki: Now ... *takes a few of the sheets from the folder and holds them out to Ed, far enough away that the cat won't be able to bite him*
C!Envy: *glances uninterestedly at the doctor, tail twitching*
T!Ed: *is absolutely determined to be an angry bastard through all of the pain medication; scowls looking over the scans before his face scrunches up in confusion* What the fuck..?
Dr. Takayuki: *smiles thinly, though he disapproves of swearing* Precisely my reaction. As you can see, the damage is extensive. Your husband ought to be dead - it's a wonder to me he is able to function as much as he can.
T!Ed: He's already dead. *states this very-matter-of-factly, scrutinizing the scans* What the hell happened? Why is it all..? *flaily arm gesture*
Dr. Takayuki: *pushes his glasses up his nose, swallowing hard at the 'already dead' comment, thinking of horror movies he'd loved as a teen* Uh ... uh...
T!Ed: Uh? *more flaily arm gesturing*
Dr. Takayuki: Well, I couldn't explain why, but it seems the matter is rotting... *he points to several dark splotches on the scan*
Dr. Takayuki: Also - let's see - wherewas that one? *rifles through the papers, glasses sliding down his nose once more*
T!Ed: *watches silently, trying to think through the haze and resuming scritching behind Ren's ears*
Dr. Takayuki: Ah! *finds the one he was searching for, showing it to Ed* I don't know the history of the injury, but there seem to be some bone fragments floating around...
T!Ed: *eyes go wide* Those need to get out. NOW.
Dr. Takayuki: I enlarged the picture and - *pauses, confused by the interruption* I. Yes, I agree, normally removing them would be of the utmost importance, but...
C!Envy: *purrs louder, rolling over onto his back and giving a glorious cat-stretch, paws in the air*
Dr. Takayuki: They are too small to remove, Mr. Elric, and there are too many of them. We cannot risk the further damage that might be done to Mr. Elric's brain tissue...
T!Ed: *plays fingers over Ren's paws absently* They need to get out, they're hurting him. *bites his lip* Could we cut his head off or something..?
C!Envy: *bats playfully at his hand, love-biting his fingers*
Dr. Takayuki: Now, I'd recommend- WHAT?!
Dr. Takayuki: *makes as though to laugh before seeing the look on Ed's face and going pale* You're ... you're serious?
T!Ed: ...Well, duh. He'll just grow it back. *looks at the doctor like he's an idiot, rolling his eyes and wriggling his fingers for Ren*
Dr. Takayuki: He'll ... grow it back?
T!Ed: Yeah. *quirks his eyebrows*
Dr. Takayuki: *looking fairly queasy at just the mention of decapitation* Mr. Elric ... what are you talking about? Honestly.
C!Envy: *swats at the fingers, growling happily*
T!Ed: ...I married a zombie that can grow stuff back. *nods*
Dr. Takayuki: A zombie? *glances at the cat that is Mr. Elric, swallows, and shrugs* I suppose you'd know, if anyone did.
Dr. Takayuki: It would explain the state of his brain.
T!Ed: A married a zombie kitty~ *coos down at Ren, poking him on the nose lightly with a "boop"*
Dr. Takayuki: *trying to get a handle on this weird, weird situation* You think he will be healed if we ... er ... amputate his head?
C!Envy: *chomps the finger gently, latching onto his wrist and twitching his tail*
T!Ed: Yeah, probably. *wriggles his fingers some more, thinking* Though the bones will probably still be there, in the one head.
Dr. Takayuki: *thinks that's kind of really wrong; talks a bit faster* Why are the bones important? *doesn't really care, but he needs more medical information before he can condone anything like decapitation*
C!Envy: *curls up and starts purring again*
T!Ed: 'Cause he's a homunculus.
Dr. Takayuki: A ... homunculus. Sure, of course. *just going with it at this point - he's probably just crazy, and if so he might as well go for it*
T!Ed: I'll blow up his head. That should work. *pets the top of Ren's head, quite content for the moment*
Dr. Takayuki: Er - there are perhaps more precise ways of ... doing it?
Dr. Takayuki: This is a hospital, after all.
T!Ed: *raises his eyebrows* You guys took my leg; you suck.
Dr. Takayuki: *rubs his forhead with his hand, thinking that these are the worst patients of all time* Well, then you have seen that we are more than capable when it comes to amputation, Mr. Elric
T!Ed: Yeah, but... you suck.
Dr. Takayuki: Of couse, Mr. Elric. *why, oh why did he have to become a doctor?* Am I correct in guessing that my further assistance in this matter is unnecessary?
T!Ed: Quite unnecessary, thank you, good sir. I will be checking out tomorrow. *waves a hand dismissively, snickering to himself; oh he is such a clever boy, uh-huh*
Dr. Takayuki: *just wants to leave these freaks to deal with their own crazy zombie things, honestly*
C!Envy: *asleep, tail twitching*
Dr. Takayuki: *leaves the scans with Mr. Elric and Mr. Elric, leaving gratefully and thinking that he should possibly check himself in for a few days, if he's imagining such things*
