omg_fmaHello and welcome! I'm glad to know you're interested in participating in this fine game of ours. Before applying for a character, be sure you have read the RP guidelines. The format for applying for a new character is as such:

Now, the first few categories are rather self-explanatory (I should hope). Before you apply for a character, check and make sure that character is not already taken. Remember, only one OOC! and one IC! version of each character are allowed at any one time.
Some characters have been played before and have histories established already. Please view the list of previous character journals. If the character you are interested in is an IC! character who has been played before, you have one of two choices. You can either read up everything on them in order to establish a basic knowledge of the character and their past relationships, etc, and essentially play them as a continuation OR you may restart that character entirely and do a full history wipe, where it will have been as if they had just arrived, etc. Some of the old IC!s have such complicated history, I feel this is only fair to new players who do not wish to continue that.
If you're applying for a previously played OOC! character, you cannot continue to play a previous one, but must make up a new OOC! character instead. The only exception to this rule is if the old OOC! player has allowed their character to be put up for adoption.
Finally, the most important part is the sample post. We want to see your ideas, be creative! Most sample posts are written as if they are the first journal post for that character - how did he/she get here and what does he/she think about this? This may especially be useful in establishing the return of a previously played character- where were they, and why are they back now? However, feel free to write something else for this sample post if you like, it certainly does not have to be a first journal post. What we want to see is how well you know the character. If it is an IC! character, does your post sound like something the canon version of the character would think or say? If an OOC!, how much thought have you put into creating a unique and interesting personality for this character?
