[Info] Guidelines
Jan. 25th, 2008 09:24 pmPlease read these guidelines carefully. Failure to follow the rules will result in a warning. However, repeated violation of the rules may result in your removal from the game. It's never happened, it's not likely to happen, I'm just sayin'.
Rules
1. No godmoding. You are not allowed to do something directly to someone's character without allowing the player a chance to have their character react. This is mostly only relevant in combat, but it can happen in other situations as well. Example of combat godmoding:
Evil!Al: ::picks up a rock and throws it at T!Ed, where it hits him squarely in the forehead and knocks him out::
This cannot be done! Instead, I would type:
Evil!Al: ::picks up a rock and throws it at T!Ed, aiming for his head::
Then, T!Ed will be able to attempt to dodge it. The level of success of said rock-throwing is left up to the player whose character is being attacked to decide. Based on how agile T!Ed is and how good Evil!Al's aim is, Lisa will decide whether or not poor T!Ed will get smacked with the rock.
Avoiding godmoding is simple. Instead of saying so and so punches someone, just say so and so throws a punch at someone. Etcetera etcetera. Finally, if you're dodging absolutely everything no matter how improbable the dodge, then yes, that too is godmoding.
2. No metagaming. Often, a player will know more about a situation than his/her character does. Your character is not you, they don't know that someone insulted them while at the bar last night when they weren't listening unless someone told them.
3. The character death policy is as such: IC! characters are not to be killed unless in some odd circumstance everyone decides that's okay. Generally it won't be, because once killed off, an IC! character can never come back. OOC! character deaths are highly discouraged but in some circumstances allowed. Please discuss this with a mod first if you want your character to die.
4. There will only ever be two of each of character, an IC! and an OOC! version. The IC! version of a character must follow the history of that character as it is in canon; the OOC! version of a character is allowed to be as cracked out as you'd like.
Other General Guidelines
5. Please try to stay active. Post a new journal entry with your character at least once a week, at minimum once every two weeks. Comment consistently on other characters' posts. This isn't something that's enforced but it's nice so that we know you're still here!
6. Yes, both opposite-sex and same-sex relationships are allowed. As is incest of both types. Everything goes, if you're willing to type it. Oh, internet.
7. Swearing is okay too.
Okay, that's all! Simple enough, right? Thanks for reading, and see you in-game!
